How to set up the Internet in Windows XP in XP Standard Mode

Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the form johndoe@dial123.net

Also - Make sure that you are in CLASSIC mode to follow these instructions.

  1. Click on the Start menu.
  2. Click on My Computer

  3. Click on My Network Places.

  4. Click on View Network Connections.

  5. Click on Create New Connection.

  6. Click the Next button.

     

    Choose Connect to the Internet.

  7. Click the Next button.

  8. Choose Set up my connection manually.
  9. Click the Next button.

  10. Choose Connect using a dial-up modem.
  11. Click the Next button.

  12. In the ISP Name box, type Internet Access
  13. Click the Next button.

  14. In the Telephone number box, enter the number of your dial-up POP. Click here to locate a POP near you.
  15. Click the Next button.

  16. In the User name box, your user name.
  17. In the Password box, type your password.
  18. In the Confirm Password box, type your password again.
  19. Check all three boxes on the page.
  20. Click the Next button.

  21. Click the Next button.

  22. Click the checkbox to add the shortcut to the desktop.
  23. Click finish.

  At this point you should be able to find the connection on the desktop.
