How to set
up the Internet in Windows XP in XP Standard Mode
Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the
form johndoe@dial123.net

Make sure that you are in CLASSIC mode to follow these instructions.
- Click on the Start menu.
- Click on My Computer

- Click on My Network Places.

- Click on View Network Connections.

- Click on Create New Connection.

- Click the Next button.
Choose Connect to the Internet.
- Click the Next button.

- Choose Set up my connection manually.
- Click the Next button.

- Choose Connect using a dial-up modem.
- Click the Next button.

- In the ISP Name box, type Internet Access
- Click the Next button.

- In the Telephone number box, enter the number of your dial-up
POP. Click here to locate a POP near
you.
- Click the Next button.

- In the User name box, your user name.
- In the Password box, type your password.
- In the Confirm Password box, type your password again.
- Check all three boxes on the page.
- Click the Next button.

- Click the Next button.

- Click the checkbox to add the shortcut to the desktop.
- Click finish.
At this point you should be able to find the connection on the
desktop.
