How to set up the Internet in Windows Me (Windows Millennium Edition)

Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the form johndoe@dial123.net.

Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the form johndoe@dial123.net. E-Mail addresses and accelerator access are not automatically setup when you subscribe.  You must request them during signup, and allow 1-3 business days for activation.

Note:  Do not literally add @xxx.xxx or @realm.tld to the end of your username.  You were assigned a specific realm ending during signup.  Please use that username.  (Example johndoe@myispmail.net)

  1. Click on the Start menu.

  2. Click on Settings.

  3. Click on Dial-Up Networking.

  4. If Make New Connection pops up, go to #10. Otherwise go on to #5.

  5. If you need to delete an old connection go on to step #6, otherwise go to step #9.

  6. Right click on the connection you want to delete.

  7. Click Delete from the context menu.

  8. Click the Yes button.

  9. Double click Make New Connection.

  10. Type Internet Access in the first box.

  11. In the Select a device pull-down menu, select your modem. (most users will have only one choice)

  12. Click the Next button.

  13. Clear out the Area Code box.

  14. In the Telephone number box, enter the number of your dial-up POP. Click here to locate a POP near you.

  15. Click the Next button.

  16. Click the Next button.

  17. Click finish - You should be back at the dialup networking folder with your new connection...

  18. Making the Link on your desktop:

  1. Single right-click on the new connection that you have made in he dialup networking - For a visual, use step #7

  2. Left click on Create Shortcut

  3. Say yes to put it on the desktop instead.

  4. You're all set  Its time for you to enjoy your internet service.
