How to set up the Internet in Windows 95 or Windows 98

Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the form johndoe@dial123.net

 

Note: Your username and email address are the same. They are in the form johndoe@dial123.net. E-Mail addresses and accelerator access are not automatically setup when you subscribe.  You must request them during signup, and allow 1-3 business days for activation.

Note:  Do not literally add @xxx.xxx or @realm.tld to the end of your username.  You were assigned a specific realm ending during signup.  Please use that username.  (Example johndoe@myispmail.net)

  1. Double left-click My Computer.

  2. Double left-click Dial-Up Networking.

  3. If  Welcome to Dial-Up Networking pops up, click here.

     

  4. Otherwise, double left-click Make New Connection.

  5. Type Internet Access in the first box.

  6. In the Select a device pull-down menu, select your modem. (most users will have only one choice)

  7. Click the Next button.

  8. Clear out the Area Code box.

  9. In the Telephone number box, enter the number of your dial-up POP. Click here to locate a POP near you.

  10. Click the Next button.

  11. Click the Next button.

  12. If you have an old Internet account you want to delete, continue on to step 13. Otherwise, go to step 16.

     

  13. Right click on the connection you want to delete

  14. Click Delete from the context menu.

  15. Click the Yes button.

  16. Single right-click on the new connection that you have made in the dialup networking

  17. Left click on Create Shortcut

  18. Say yes to put it on the desktop instead.

  19. You're all set  Its time for you to enjoy your internet service.
