How to set up
the Internet in WINDOWS VISTA
Set up Window
Vista through Network Sharing Center
- Open Control Panel
- How many Icons you have (If customer has
around 40)
- Click on Network and sharing center
- Then click on Setup a Connection or
Network
- You will have a window with 5 options,
choose the 5th Option Setup a dial up connection
- You will have a window for:
- Telephone number: Type the dial up number
with no spaces or dash
- Username: Type in the FULL username with
no spaces (example: user@dial123.net)
- Password: Type in the password. Make
sure there are no spaces.
- Make sure remember password box is checked
- Then click on Connect, and then wait a
second
- On the next screen, chose the option Setup
the connection anyway
- And click on Close.
IF YOU DO NOT ENTER YOUR FULL USERNAME AS NOTED YOU WILL GET ERROR 691.
ACCESS DENIED.
To create the Shortcut
- Go back and Open the Network and Sharing
Center
- On the right hand side click on Manage
Network Connection
- You should see the icon you just made and named.
Make a right click and click on Create shortcut.
- A message will pop up saying: Windows
cannot create a shortcut here, would you like to place the
shortcut on the desktop, say Yes.

form johndoe@dial123.net

Instructions for Dial-Up Setup on Windows Vista
1. Click on the Start Button and then click on the
Network option.

2. Select “Network and Sharing Center ” from the top of
the screen.

3. Next, Select “Set up a Connection or Network”

4. Select “Set up a dial-up connection” from the menu
options.

5. Set up the dialup number with the area code included, as shown. Choose
your User Name and Password. There is also an option at the bottom to select
if multiple people will use this connection.
Then click connect and you are done! If an error message
comes up asking to setup the connection anyway say YES!
